Tamam in Sweden
Tamam is one of the largest integration projects in Sweden. Our idea is simple: we want to give immigrant youth an opportunity to take part in society and become active citizens. By offering homework support, language assistance, sports and cultural activities, excursions and camps children and youth will acquire an active leisure time, a larger social network and improved language skills. Tamam is currently actively working in Lund, Uppsala, Stockholm, Malmö and Umeå, along with a fundraising group for paraguay in Gothenburg
It is often difficult for newly arrived immigrants and refugees to create an active leisure time, find friends and interact with the local population. Tamam wants to reduce the vulnerability among newly arrived youth and increase involvement in society.
Tamam attaches great importance to the creation of multi-cultural meeting places. We wish for people from all continents and cultures to be able to meet and socialize in a natural and relaxed manner. Tamam is available to everyone, regardless of language, culture or religious affiliation. The work is carried out in close cooperation with local associations, schools and authorities.
Tamam Sweden also works with advocacy. An important task of Tamam is to protect migrant young people, hold public talks, strengthen the voluntary sector and promote volunteering. The goal is to become a major actor in public discourse. We have pervasive experience of integration work, an issue becoming increasingly important in today's pluralistic society.
